# 26. Basel – Mulhouse – Letting Go.
Guten Abend.
Achtung.
This is your crew speaking.
We will shortly begin the process of letting go.
Please take a moment to locate the exits.
Your child will not use them.
He lives here now.
Ensure all visiting emotions are stored securely before take‑off.
Do not block the aisle
with questions he has already answered.
If the urge to fix something arises mid‑flight,
remain seated.
It is not your house.
Cabin pressure may fluctuate
as the forest line
falls away –
this is normal.
Do not reach
for your phone.
There is nothing to report at this time.
In the unlikely event of sustained calm
on his part,
do not interpret it as distance.
He is simply upright, fed,
moving forward.
Should memory rush into the cabin:
his face at the tram stop, the list he made,
the way he didn’t walk you to the coach,
you may experience a sudden wish
to unzip
the sky
and step backwards through time,
returning with toothpaste,
winter socks,
and things you forgot to teach.
Breathe.
Let it pass through unfiltered.
On landing
in Porto,
resume previous routines.
Disembark quietly.
You are no longer required
in that seat.
We hope you enjoyed
this brief illusion
of usefulness.
Auf Wiedersehen,
and thank you for flying with us.
We’ll be fine.
